Nicole Nelson is a multidisciplinary storyteller, healer, activist and advocate for homeless and unsheltered families and individuals. As a multiracial, first generation Mexican American and daughter of an immigrant, she uses her innate ability to translate, relate, and build community across cultures and heritages, politics, and economic class in service to a more equitable and just world. Nicole is especially skilled in identifying the ways in which racism, homophobia and transphobia, classism, fatphobia, and other forms of oppression are internalized by individuals and organizations, and uses her training as a holistic healer and massage therapist to intuitively see, sense, recommend, and design the internal reflection work that needs to happen within people of all identities in order to heal, restore, and be their best selves, both in the workplace and across various relationships across their personal lives.

As an equity-centered communications and curriculum designer and strategist for The Justice Collective, Nicole listens deeply and uses her skills to pull the most relevant insights and lessons out of people, organizations, and situations and transforms them into accessible, powerful messaging, content, and learning experiences that directly speak to and engage her diverse audiences. Through her advocacy and activism with unsheltered communities in downtown Los Angeles and in the Bay, and experience from her nearly 7 years spent working in Special Education in one of the largest unified school districts in the country, Nicole brings the humanizing and illuminating stories of those often least protected and respected in society to be shared for the dignity, relevance, teachability, and beauty they deserve. Nicole earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Northridge in Communications and Media Studies and has been a CA Certified Massage Therapist since 2012
