Microaggressions: Understanding Intent and Impact to Create Inclusion

We often say there is no “right way” to do Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB)… but there are definitely some wrong ways! In this session we will unpack some of the “wrong ways” and dig into the intentions that are often well-meaning, and the impacts that can be less-than-desirable, which often show up as microaggressions. Participants will review common scenarios and work through defensiveness and making amends. Our facilitator will also share best practices on interrupting exclusive behavior and moving forward after missteps.

Upon completion of the Microaggressions workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Unpack the impact of microaggressions.
     
  2. Understand the value of disrupting defensiveness and making amends.
     
  3. Review best practices for interrupting exclusive behavior and moving forward after missteps.
